Donating Net Proceeds to Communities in Need
We started the Pact Press anthologies to tell the stories of the marginalized and afflicted, those who felt oppressed by circumstance, thwarted by society or who were struggling to give voice to their narrative. We have selected several themes that we felt were pertinent to the modern world, and welcome ongoing submissions of poetry, short fiction, essays, articles or interviews for the upcoming anthologies.
Our inaugural anthology, Speak and Speak Again, was published in May of 2017. It was featured in reading events at California’s Book Passage, A Great Place for Good Books, and Kaleidoscope Cafe. It was also selected as a August Book Bash title at Quail Ridge Books, Raleigh, N.C. The net proceeds of this work are being donated to the Southern Poverty Law Center to support their fine work battling discrimination.
Anthology# 2 : Howling Up to the Wind – The Opioid Epidemic
The opioid epidemic is devastating and affects an ever-increasing number of individuals – those afflicted as well as those who love them, and those who spend their professional lives treating them. For many of us, however, the epidemic is conveyed through news bites and statistics; we have no real understanding of what this battle is about in human terms, for those that are struggling with addiction on a daily basis. In this next anthology, we seek to shine a light on the crisis, to illuminate the human impact by publishing the stories of those who are deeply engaged in the opioid epidemic. Net proceeds from the sale of this anthology will benefit Shatterproof.org, a New York-based nonprofit that provides significant aid to individuals and families afflicted by this disease.
To be published Feb 2, 2018. Join us for the release event at Quail Ridge Books!
