Regal House Publishing, and Pact Press, envisions the marketing enterprise in a number of ways. The marketing of a work is a collaborative effort between author and House. We work with our authors to identify influencers within specific geographies (local to the author as well as further afield), such as newspapers that include book review sections, radio and podcast hosts, bookstores with vibrant event schedules, and book blog opportunities. Regal formulates press releases, conducts email outreach campaigns, and liaises with bookstores to ensure they have titles readily available for upcoming events. We also work with our authors to market their events via our own rapidly expanding social media platform—for which we have approximately 90,000 followers collectively—as well as our outgoing newsletter to subscribers.
We also believe that an important part of the marketing endeavor at Regal lies in community. We host an online forum in which all our authors, from Regal, as well as our Pact Press and Fitzroy Books imprints, have the opportunity to network with each other, to access comprehensive marketing resources, to organize multi-author reading events and speaking tours, and to exchange review opportunities. This forum also provides the collective insights of a multitude of international writers and poets that come from diverse backgrounds and experiences—an exchange that we fervently believe is of value to us all. With our international author network, we assist in marketing and outreach efforts that span continents with international event support. We actively seek to foster connections between our authors and work to provide opportunities for multi-author events.
Our marketing initiatives also encompass booksellers, libraries and other venues where books are sold. Our BookBound series highlights the success stories of independent bookstores, and further forges connections with our natural partners in the bookselling space. Our That’s My Story initiative showcases our talented authors, drives authorial brand awareness, and helps promote discoverability in the digital space. We welcome blog contributions from all our authors with a similar objective in mind.
Essentially, as with everything else at Regal, the marketing effort results from a meaningful partnership between House and author. We work together with our authors to identify opportunity for authorial brand exposure, and ways by which we might promote book sales, and then, together, we seek to establish those connections and organize those events. We strongly feel that we are partners in the business of promoting the author and selling their titles and, as long as that title numbers among our catalog, that work never ceases.
