We, at Regal House Publishing, love books. I mean we really love books. There is nothing more exciting at RHP (parent company of Pact Press) than when we discover a new author whose words resonate, stirring the blood, and raising goosebumps on the skin. Words that are finely and uniquely crafted, halting the reader in momentary awe at the seemingly effortless skill with which these talented authors spill phrases across the page. We feel so proud and so privileged to play a small part in bringing these incredible writers to the reading world.
Lately, however, like many Americans, we have been worried; worried about the racist slurs, hate crimes, and discrimination that seems to be on the rise across the nation in recent weeks. We have been worried about the divisive rhetoric, the suspicion and distrust of fellow Americans due to the color of their skin or the manner in which they worship. We have been alarmed by incidents of school harassment targeting minorities and the growing us versus them mentality as opposed to the collective we.
So we decided to do something about it. We decided to collect the voices of all who felt the impact of these emotional weeks, and to unify them in our inaugural anthology – letters, essays, articles, poems, and short fiction not by Muslims or Jews, by Republicans or Democrats, by gay or straight, by men or by women, by conservatives or liberals, or even Americans, but by citizens of this glorious globe celebrating and embracing the vibrant diversity that is this human life.
So we ask you to join with us. Get in touch to learn how you too can take the Pact. The Pact to not stand by in silence, to stand up for those who are belittled or derided. The Pact to yell from the rooftops and holler from the schoolyards, to tell your story so that others will not feel alone in their fear and uncertainty. For while there is much that divides us, there is more that unites us and a great deal can be accomplished through the power of words.
